Uncoated Chopped Fiber
high temperature resistance and tensile strength
Uncoated chopped fiber is a basalt fiber without additional coating. In comparison to tubobuild integral, the roving is not coated before it is chopped to the desired length. Chopped fibers are impregnated with the same sizing that the roving had before it was chopped. Sized but uncoated basalt rovings have a diameter of approx. 13 µm and are chopped to different lengths. The shortest chopped fiber is 0,16 mm long and the maximum one is 48 mm.

Properties of UCF
Properties like temperature resistance and high tensile strength make UCF-fibers very interesting for plastic reinforcement such as an extrusion process. Milled fibers can be added to the plastic matrix with low viscosity.
Ultimately, UCF fibers are used to improve the mechanical and thermal properties of plastics.
Another sphere of application of USF-fibers are wet-laid nonwovens. In this application, the thermal properties of the fibers are more important.
